Contact List Tips


The first step in creating any email or personalized campaign within Boingnet is adding or uploading a contact list that contains your campaign targets’ campaign information.  Making sure that the list you create and upload is in the correct format and contains all the information you’ll need will help you build a better campaign.

Minimum Information to Include in List – This information must be included in order to upload and map your list:

  •    First Name
  •    Last Name
  •    Email Address

Additionally – You should include any information that you’ll need to use in you campaign, some examples are:

  •    Street Address
  •    City
  •    State
  •    Zip
  •    Birth Date
  •    Gender
  •    Company Name
  •    Mobile Phone Number

List Layout – Your excel file should contain column headings with unique names – such as:

  •    First Name
  •    Last Name
  •    Email
  •    Email2
  •    Email3
  •    Mobile Number
  •    Street Address
  •    City
  •    State
  •    Zip

It’s important that your file’s data is contained in one sheet and that your file does not contain any hidden columns or columns with no header. Please do not include any special characters in your column heading names –  such as /, _ , -, # –  only use letters and numbers.  All data should be in text format without formatting or formulas and text should not be wrapped within columns.

For best results:

  • All data uploaded should be contained in one sheet
  • Do not include hidden columns, columns without headers
  • All data should be in text format – without formatting or formulas
  • Do not wrap text within columns
  • Do not use special characters in your column heading names such as /,_,-,# — only use letters and numbers

If you have more than one email address for a customer, put the primary email address in the “Email” column, and additional email addresses into separate columns labeled Email2 and Email3.  Additional data such as additional emails can be mapped to our variable data fields during the upload process. Keep in mind that the email you load into the first ‘Email’ column will be the recipient email for your campaign.

File Format – The file you upload needs to be a .csv or comma delimited file, or an excel file.  You can easily create a .csv file by opening it in excel and saving it as a ‘comma delimited’ file.
